Established in 1903, Whipp & Bourne has long been a leader in heavy-duty electrical switchgear, introducing arc and oil circuit breakers in 1908 and 1909 respectively. In 1975 the company launched its vacuum insulated switchgear and was acquired by Babcock International Limited. In 1987, Whipp & Bourne became part of FKI plc then merged with Hawker Siddeley in 1996. Whipp & Bourne has long since been an obsolete manufacturer and with it a growing scarcity on sourcing spare parts.

MM74 HSCB RETROFIT
SIM Switchgear has developed an innovative retrofit for obsolete circuit breakers to avoid the potential for failure and power outages.
The Whipp & Bourne MM74 HSCB retrofit process involves installing a GERAPID HSCB housed in the existing chassis.
The new breaker is fitted directly into the existing switchboard without the need for modification. All existing interlocks and winding mechanisms remain the same. Alternatively, we can supply the retrofit as a complete unit.
